Eat Your Way to Healthier Sex

“You’re probably eating many of these foods that support a robust sex life.  You may not be aware of them but they contain valuable vitamins and minerals that not only improve your romantic life, but improve your overall health as well.”

Low sex drive (or worse, no sex drive) can be frustrating. You and your partner both desire to have fun between the sheets, but there is nothing there. You used to be the man of the hour; but as the days have passed, you no longer do. So, how can you kick start your sex drive?

One of the best things you can do to ensure a healthy sex life is to eat a well-balanced diet. Forget the powdered rhino horn as this is obviously beyond your reach.  You can get these “superfoods” from your kitchen–in fact, you’re probably eating many of these foods that support a robust sex life.  You may not be aware of them but they contain valuable vitamins and minerals that not only improve your romantic life, but improve your overall health as well.

Watermelon is rich in phyto-nutrients, one of which is citrulline, which relaxes and dilates blood vessels according to Bhimu Patil, PHD, director of the Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center at Texas A&M University, College Station. “Watermelon has more citrulline in the edible part than previously believed,” he says. The amino acid citrulline is converted into the amino acid arginine, Patil says. “This is a precursor for nitric oxide, and the nitric oxide will help in blood vessel dilation.”
  2. EGGS
Eggs are ancient symbol of fertility.  They’re high in vitamins B5 and B6, which help balance hormone levels and fight stress. They’re known to be a good source for an amino acid L-arginine, which has been shown effective in treating types of heart ailments and erectile dysfunction.  In addition, eggs are high in protein, which is a source of stamina, and they’re also low in calories. Poached, scrambled, fried, deviled – no matter how you make them, a couple of eggs will rev you up after a long day so you can have quality time with your partner.egg
Avocados are not just a perfect source of healthy fat, but they’re a great source of potassium and B6, both big in regulating hormone production in men. Vitamin B6 is a libido enhancer because it helps in controlling elevated prolactin. It also aids in estrogen and testosterone function, as well as production of red blood cells, serotonin, and dopamine. For men with low sperm count Vitamin B6 has been show to help increase these levels. Both men and women will love the extra energy that comes from all the folic acid in avocados, too.avocado
Chocolate contains L-arginine, an amino acid that can be an effective natural sex-enhancer for both women and men. It works by increasing nitric oxide and promoting blood flow to your sexual organs, which increases sensation, satisfaction, and desire. It also stimulates and elevates mood because it is a rich source of PEA (phenylethylamine). As a stimulant and mood elevator, PEA can induce sensations of euphoria—and it’s naturally released by your brain when you’re in love. This chemical promotes the production of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which enhances feelings of well-being, joy, and pleasure.
  5. BASIL
From pesto to pizza and everything in between, basil is one amazing herb. Not only is it an anti-inflammatory food, but it also works like a natural antibiotic, fending off harmful bacteria. Basil’s aphrodisiac properties are part folklore and part physiology. It’s said that the scent of basil naturally increases sexual desire in men. Perhaps rubbing a little basil behind the ears or neck might just be enough to do the trick. What goes on inside our body is a little different. Basil has a very warming effect on our bodies, promoting circulation in all the right regions.
Chili peppers, along with all peppers that are spicy, contain capsaicin. Capsaicin produces heat, which promotes circulation. Triggering the release of endorphins, capsaicin is therefore a “feel good” chemical for your brain. It stimulates nerve endings and raises your heart rate. Chili peppers, in particular, are also known to boost endorphins, which give your mood and libido a little boost, too.chili-peppers
Celery is considered an excellent food to ramp up sexual stimulation because it boosts a powerful substance known as androsternone (an odorless hormone that is being released when men sweat). Guess what food is rich in androsternone? That’s right, celery – and women happen to be particularly in tune with this scent when men release it as a pheromone.  Men who load up on celery are more likely to release more adrosternone.
Researchers at the University of California shows a series of experiments whose results lettuce has a calming effect on sexual desire and a strong influence on increasing the level of fertility. Although these findings seem controversial, lettuce is often recommended to help men suffering from premature ejaculation.
Banana helps to increase sex drive boost male libido largely due to the presence of the enzyme ‘bromelain’ . Banana is also a good source of B vitamins like riboflavin and potassium, which increase the body’s total energy levels.banana
  10. GARLIC
Garlic can be bad on the breath but definitely good on the sex drive. Not necessarily an obvious choice, but garlic is a potent aphrodisiac for a one very good reason: it contains high levels of allicin a compound that can improve blood flow to the sexual organs. But don’t just munch on big cloves of raw garlic! Allicin is only produced once garlic has been chopped as it is produced through an enzyme reaction.garlic

A healthy body is important to your sexual intimacy. By taking these essential libido boosting “superfoods”, you’re also increasing the vitamins and minerals for your healthier body and not just pump-up the urge to have sex. Regain your energy and jump start your sex drive by making sure you are getting these vitamins and minerals every day. You can even up it up a bit more with an intense metabolic fuel supplement.
