Are You Man Enough?

by Erika Dela Cruz

“Women are complex creatures who know exactly what they want in a man. They have expectations that need to be met. It is not just physical anymore. They want a real man.”

Women want to be with grown men. Gone are the days that appearances matter more than emotional and mental maturity. They want good conversation that stimulate the mind, a partnership that makes them feel needed, appreciated and  understood. Looking good doesn’t really cut it nowadays. We know that much. They want a grown man – independent, strong, mature, secure. They want someone they can have a real relationship with.

So, let’s find out if you are what women want.
Here are 4 signs that YOU are a grown man.

1. You are ready to commit.

commitment“Wait? Did you say commit? Are you talking about marriage?!” Before you say anything else, commitment is not about proposing marriage. It’s really more about emotional compatibility with your significant other. You must be confident enough about where you are in life. You are ready to support another’s goals and dreams. You are ready to stick around when the going gets tough. You are in it just as much as your partner is. Simply put, show that you actually care about her and your relationship. Show her that she matters. Show her that you are willing and able to make things work no matter what.

2. You are honest and not afraid to show your real intentions.

honesty_truth_liesThey say honesty is the best policy. Women are not mind readers. Sure they have women’s intuition but they don’t like it when they have to guess what you are thinking. They do not appreciate silent treatments.

A grown man is not afraid to say what’s on his mind as long as you and your partner are on the same page. But should there be a difference in opinion, at least be upfront and be man enough to have an actual conversation about it. No need to be defensive about things. Just say what you mean and mean what you say. Keep in mind though that honesty also needs to be tactful. Be careful when you spill the beans. Sometimes it’s not what you say but how you say it.

3. Be Introspective

introspection2How do you take criticisms? Do you shut down when you are told that maybe you are wrong about something? Do you give her the cold shoulder? Being a man means that you are open to change to be better not because someone told you but because you want to. There is a need for self-reflection. Internalization, if you will. Sometimes ask yourself, are you the man you’ve always wanted to be? Do women see you the way you want to be seen?

4. Be self-motivated

selfmotivatedYou need not be influenced by others. You remember special dates like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. You don’t rely on Facebook to remind you about important dates. It’s admirable if you recall them on your own. Show your significant other that you are a functioning adult that can look after himself. You don’t need her to wait on you, hand and foot. Women admire men who are independent and in control of their lives. Men who know how they want to live their lives, who know what they want in life are very attractive to women.

Women are complex creatures who know exactly what they want in a man. This may not be the case in every relationship. They have expectations that need to be met. It is not just physical anymore. They want a real man. They want substance in their relationship. Sure, good looks can get one foot in the door but one thing is for sure, you must have what it takes to be their man.

Now, are you man enough?
